Recreation is for Everyone

Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure programs are accessible to people of all abilities. The Special Services Department strives to provide support to people of all ages to assist them in overcoming personal barriers to participation. There are a variety of adaptive equipment/aids for anyone needing assistance.

Participation Program

The Participation Program offers reduced admissions and program fees to Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows residents who meet eligibility, to ensure that cost is not a barrier to accessing our services. To qualify, residents' gross household income must not exceed the following thresholds. Please bring to your scheduled appointment your current income information to verify eligibility and a completed registration form [PDF,92KB].

Renewals do not require an appointment. The renewal form [PDF,92KB] is available online or can be picked up and dropped off at either the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre or the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre. When dropping off please ensure you include proof of income.

Leisure Wellness Program

This program focuses on leisure as one component of a recovery plan and is offered in partnership with the Fraser Health Region, Mental Health Services. For details please call Shayna Funk-Larmor at 604-467-7303.

Agency/Individual Leisure Access Card

Available for customers requiring support to participate in our leisure activities. This card enables customers to bring a support person at no additional charge. Application forms are available at either the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre or the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre. For more information call 604-467-7303 or 604-467-7355.

KidSport

KidSport™ is a community-based sport funding program that provides grants up to a max of $300 to help cover the cost of registration fees for children under the age of 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice. Applications are online at www.kidsportcanada.ca and completed forms can be dropped off at the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre or the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre. Jumpstart

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a charitable program that supports children in financial need to participate in organized sports and recreation. Funding is available to Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows youth between the ages of 4 and 18 years. Children's Fitness Tax Credit

The Children's Fitness Tax Credit is for parents of children under the age of 16 on eligible amounts of up to $500 paid by parents to register a child in an eligible program of physical activity. Visit www.cra-arc.gc.ca for more information. The District of Maple Ridge provides receipts for registration for all programs and lessons at time of payment. Please retain these receipts for your records. To replace a lost or misplaced receipt, please contact us and a copy of the receipt can be emailed to you.

Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility

The Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues is a committee that advocates for community inclusiveness and accessibility within Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, in areas of daily living. Call 604-467-7355 for details.
