The Information Services Department is responsible for managing corporate computer systems, data resources, and sup­porting technology infrastruc­ture. The IS team supports the operation of 350 computers, 36 servers and all the associated software and databases over eight locations within the community.

More than 20 different enterprise-wide business sys­tems run on the computer network including a financial system, property and taxation system, payroll system, materials management, budget system, recreation sys­tem, facility bookings, business licences, and the Geo­graphic Information System.

The department coordinates stra­tegic technology di­rection and investments, develops com­mon standards and architectures, and provides business solutions to help frontline departments deliver public services effi­ciently.

The department also maintains the corpo­rate communications assets which includes tele­phone, radio, email, networks, and servers.

A major service area for the department is in providing technical advice, data management and reporting, and project management assistance to maximize the use of all technology infrastructures and add value to the organization through operational and energy use efficiencies.
