Content
Employee Benefits include:
- Paid time off (vacation, lieu-time, sick leave)
- Health and dental insurance benefits
- Hours of work flexibility
- Wellness and fitness options
- Pension benefits
The level and type of benefits coverage depends on the Union the employee is represented by and the employee's work status (full-time, part-time or seasonal).
The following summarizes the paid time off, insurance and pension benefits coverage for full-time employee in each of our bargaining units:
Generally speaking, part-time staff in each of these units receive a percentage of their hourly rate (usually between 12% and 16%) in lieu of all of the benefit coverages.
The District of Maple Ridge has collective agreements with two unions detailing the terms and conditions of employment for employees covered by these contracts. The full version of the collective agreements can be found here:

Supplementary Employment Insurance Benefits (SEIB) plan is available to all full-time birth mothers who are entitled to maternity leave and who are in receipt of EI benefits. The plan is intended to supplement the Employment Insurance benefits received by employees while they are temporarily unable to work as a result of giving birth. The SEIB Plan payment is based on the difference between the Employment Insurance benefit and ninety-five percent (95%) of their gross weekly earnings. Maximum benefit is up to 17 weeks.
