Minimum Qualifications
(Required at the time of application)
- Canadian Citizenship, or Landed Immigrant.
- Between the Ages of 19 and 60 Years.
- Must have Grade 12 education.
- Height/Weight: Must be proportionate. No minimum or maximum has been set.
- Must be in good physical condition and able to successfully complete a physical test.
- Hearing must be normal without aids.
- Vision will be according to the standards established by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles as a prerequisite for a Class 3 Driver's Licence.
- Color vision will be according to the standards established by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles as a prerequisite for a Class 3 Driver's Licence.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be a resident of Maple Ridge at the time of application.
- Must reside in the catchment area of the hall in which you wish to apply.
- A favorable criminal record that will not bring the Fire Department into disrepute or hamper one's ability to obtain a First Responder's Medical Licence.
- A favorable Driver's Abstract that has less than 6 points in any one year or less than 9 points in the five year history and must not have any 214/215 suspensions or any other impaired driving conviction or any Superintendent of Motor Vehicle caused suspension.
Preferred Qualifications
- Availability to respond to daytime emergencies.
- Advanced First Aid Training.
- Previous firefighting or other related work.
- Class 1 & 3 Driver's Licence or air brake endorsement.
- NFPA 1001 or 1002 certification.
- Bronze Medallion or equivalent.
- Post Secondary Academic Diploma.
- Technical, Trades or equivalent level.
